The entire Scottish region is abundant with tracts of water and highland lochans that can provide as much variety, challenge and excitement as anywhere else. The smaller rivers, winding through a medley of mixed terrain are neither too wide nor too deep but have produced some splendid sport over the years.
Small but deep hill lochs always justify the effort in getting that little bit further off the beaten track with wild brownies, rainbows, grayling and arctic char distinct possibilities.

"Fishing memories mature into exaggeration,
but there is an accumulation of experience
that begins to stand one in good stead.
There are no certainties about what will
happen and what will not, but there are broad
patterns of predictability (mostly about
what will not). You begin to be able to appraise
a stretch of water, to sense where the fish
will be."
